YPF's Youth Advisory Board program was created to provide young leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to change the world through philanthropy and volunteerism. This program was successfully piloted in January-April 2010 and will officially launch in September 2010, for the 2010-2011 school year.
The purpose of the Youth Advisory Board is threefold:
- Incorporate the youth voice into our decision making, getting feedback on new and existing Young Philanthropists Foundation programs;
- Create meaningful service opportunities for kids in our community through youth-led service days organized by the Youth Advisory Board;
- Provide valuable leadership training and skill for the young leaders on the Youth Advisory Board.
The 2010-2011 Youth Advisory Board program will take place over the 9-month traditional school year, September-May. The Youth Advisory Board will consist of 12-15 students from schools throughout metropolitan Denver. The 2010-2011 Youth Advisory Board program will culminate with a service project for Global Youth Service Day on April 23, 2011.
The ideal student will be:
- Between 5th and 10th grade
- Demonstrate leadership skills and an interest in service
- Work well in a group setting
- Be able to commit to the expectations of participation as outlined in the attached document
